Day 300 of the 365 Days of Blogging

The author/publisher,
Dane F. Baylis

TWO MILESTONES TONIGHT!

FIRST, I HAVE BROKEN 300 CONSECUTIVE DAYS OF BLOGGING. JUST A LITTLE OVER TWO MONTHS LEFT ON THE CHALLENGE.

SECOND, I ATTENDED THE FIRST DAY OF MY FIRST WRITER'S CONFERENCE TODAY!!!
WHOO-HOO!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it was a long but information packed day, that's for sure. The conference was sponsored by the Ventura County Writer's Club and put on by the Pacific Institute for Professional Writing. It might seem strange, but sometimes it's like being the Little Engine That Could, "I am a writer. I am a writer."

A day filled with names like Toni Lopopolo, Shelly Lowenkopf, Matt Pallmary (a homie no less), Alice Rene, Dana Newman, Charlotte Gusay, and B.J. Robins. All editors, writers, and agents of significant horsepower and knowledge. All of these luminaries putting out an enormous amount of useful information that was near staggering. Advice, exercises, critiques, and comments. Ample question and answer sessions and access to the speakers after programs. I'm really looking forward to tomorrow! (I may even have made a contact.)

Today's agenda included a lot of great advice about improving the craft. This was followed by a memoir writer's panel and then a literary agent's panel. Tomorrow we get a couple of sessions on self-publication - like it or not, the world is changing and it's better to rise above the flood than be drowned in the torrent. The day finishes with a session on platform building. All in all, a weekend well spent and worth the expense.

In the meantime...live, love, write.
